About Me

Colleen Pittet, Marriage & Family therapist, sits in her office in Winnipeg.

Hey, I’m Colleen

I work with people who are carrying more than most people realize — whether that’s chronic illness, chronic pain, caregiving stress, anxiety, perfectionism, relationship strain, or the emotional weight of trying to hold everything together.

Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, caring people who are used to being the strong one. They continue showing up for others even when they feel exhausted, overwhelmed, or emotionally depleted themselves.

Some are adjusting to changes in their health or living with chronic pain. Some are navigating the constant vigilance that comes with food allergy parenting or caregiving responsibilities. Others feel weighed down by anxiety, pressure, burnout, or the invisible mental load they carry every day.

I strive to create a space where you don’t have to minimize your experience, push through alone, or explain why things feel hard.

My Background

Before becoming a therapist, I worked as a nurse for over 20 years. My experience in healthcare gave me a deep understanding of the emotional and physical impact that illness, pain, caregiving, stress, and medical uncertainty can have on individuals and families.

I’ve seen how easily people can feel overwhelmed, isolated, dismissed, or pressured to “keep functioning” even when they are struggling internally.

My background in both nursing and therapy allows me to approach mental health with compassion, curiosity, and an understanding of the connection between emotional and physical wellbeing.

I also understand firsthand the emotional intensity that can come with food allergy parenting — the vigilance, worry, responsibility, and mental load that often exists quietly beneath the surface.

My Approach

My approach to therapy is collaborative, compassionate, and relational. I believe therapy works best when people feel safe enough to show up honestly — without fear of judgment or pressure to have everything figured out.

Together, we may explore:

  • patterns of perfectionism or over-responsibility

  • anxiety and emotional overwhelm

  • the impact of chronic illness, chronic pain, or caregiving stress

  • relationship and family dynamics

  • boundaries, self-compassion, and emotional regulation

  • ways to reconnect with yourself with greater gentleness and clarity

I work with individuals, couples, and families and tailor therapy to each person’s unique experiences, needs, and goals.

You Don’t Have to Carry Everything Alone

Reaching out for support can feel vulnerable, especially when you’re used to managing things on your own. Therapy can offer a space to slow down, process what you’ve been carrying, and feel supported through difficult seasons of life.

If you feel that we may be a good fit, I’d be honoured to connect with you.
